Cub Scout Pack #68 will be having their Annual Pinewood Derby on Friday, March 5 at 6:00p.m. at the Glen Lyn Church of Christ in Glen Lyn, Virginia. Everyone welcome!

Everyone is welcome at the Spaghetti Dinner at Rich Creek united Methodist Church directly following worship service on Sunday, March 7. Donations for the meal will benefit the Lord’s Acre Fund.

There is a Backpack for Kids meeting scheduled for Thurs., March 4 at Peterstown Methodist Church at 6:00. This meeting is to see if there is enough interest and commitment to bring this program to the Peterstown schools. Everyone welcome. Backpack for Kids is a program to send food home with kids who may not have enough food on the weekends.

The Lindside Senior Center on Rt. 219, will host an indoor flea market on Saturday, March 6^th from 8:00a.m. to 12:00 noon. There will be a first Saturday flea market from Feb. through June. New River Valley Chapter 1134 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will hold its next meeting on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 10:30a.m. in Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill at First & Main Shopping Center, 1470 South Main St., Blacksburg. Program speaker is Elyse Politi, Virginia Insurance Counseling & Assistance Program Coordinator, Medicare Fraud, Dublin. Spouses and guests are welcome. The Southwest Virginia Governor’s School will hold a Governing board meeting, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 1:00p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Governor’s School, 100 Northwood Drive, Pulaski, Virginia. The meeting is open to the public.

The Salvation Army will be taking applications for Easter baskets in our Christiansburg office, for children ages one through ten only, during the following times. March 9^th – March 18^th, Tuesday thru Thursday, from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. and 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. only. Parents must have with them a picture ID with a current address and either a picture ID, birth certificate, Medicaid card, or social security card for each child. No appointment necessary.
